Himalayan Cat: Facts & Trivia

The Himalayan (aka Himalayan Persian or Colourpoint Siamese) is result of breeding Persian and Siamese cats. These cats are often described as Persians in Siamese drag.

Himalayan Appearance: 

Himalayan cats are medium sized cats weighing 7-12 pounds (3.2-5.4 kg). They have round thick bodies. This look is enhanced by their thick, long, silky hair. Their short legs make it harder for them to jump than most cats. They have flat faces with smoky blue eyes.

Himalayan cats come in blue point, brown point, cream point, red point, and seal point.

Himalayan cats have a lifespan of 9-15 years.

Himalayan Temperament: 

Himalayan cats are moderately active, intelligent cats who vocalize their opinions in soft sweet voice. They are much more likely to sit on your lap or a chair than climb your drapes or jump on your counters. They will play with cat nip toys and the like, but they generally like to sit around regally and be admired. 

These cats play well with kids even letting them dress them up. They are shy around strangers. 

Himalayans’ need daily grooming of their lush, silky hair.
